3. Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Songcraft is designed for use in educational settings with students under 13. We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):

Teacher/School Consent: Student accounts are created by teachers acting as agents of consent on behalf of parents/guardians within the educational context.

Minimal Data Collection: We collect only the information necessary to provide the educational service. Student email addresses are not required.

No Advertising: We do not display third-party advertising to students.

No Social Features: Students cannot publicly share personal information or communicate with other users outside their classroom.

Parental Rights: Parents may review their child’s information or request deletion by contacting their child’s teacher or emailing us directly.

4. Educational Records (FERPA)

When Songcraft is used by schools, student records may be considered education records under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). We act as a “school official” with legitimate educational interest and:

– Use student data only for authorized educational purposes

– Do not share student data with third parties except as needed to provide the Service

– Maintain appropriate security measures

– Support schools in responding to parent/guardian requests regarding their child’s records

Deleted Accounts: Upon deletion, user data is removed from active systems. Backup copies may persist for a limited period.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Teachers:

– Access and update your account information via the teacher dashboard

– Delete student accounts from your classrooms

– Request account deletion by contacting us

Parents/Guardians:

– Contact your child’s teacher to review or request deletion of your child’s data

– Contact us directly if you cannot reach the teacher

All Users:

– Opt out of non-essential communications

– Request a copy of your data

– Request correction of inaccurate information
